MOSAICS, mmmm…. They are like painting with shards of sunlight and rainbows and then they last – almost – for ever.

Most of my mosaics lean towards abstraction and derive a lot of their ideas from local art of Africa, aka The Rainbow Nation. They are my celebrations, they keep me connected and remind me of home and they make London more sparkly and warm.

In terms of approach, my mosaics are a bit like my paintings, with lots of experimentation, emotion and non-neatness. Some or the symbols and myths that I work with in my paintings come to life in my mosaics, perhaps more abstractly, but generate a different kind of viewing experience.

All my mosaics are individually created, and get their ideas from secret passages on the journey. They are best seen in real life because websites are not so good at emulating galaxies of starts and planets or sunsets and sunrises, but you can get an idea from clicking on the images, otherwise, come and visit Sparkle Empire’s playground...
